Small Leadership Development Consultancy – Execution Consultant
About Us
We help organizations turn strategy into sustained results by changing how teams actually behave day to day. Our work spans leadership capability, execution discipline, personal productivity and organizational trust, and we bring internationally tested methods to clients across Japan. Our Japan team is deliberately small, numbering a few dozen colleagues, which means each of us has a visible impact on the business and on the clients we serve. We work closely together rather than in silos, and we prefer practical outcomes to theory.
The Role
As an Execution Consultant, you will advise executives, senior leaders and learning and development professionals, then lead the sessions and coaching that make a chosen execution methodology stick inside their organizations. You will sit within our Japan commercial team and report to our commercial lead for the market, partnering daily with colleagues who own client relationships. This is a permanent, full-time position based in central Tokyo on a hybrid pattern of two office days and three days from home each week, with travel to client sites when sessions are delivered in person.
Responsibilities
Much of your week is spent in front of clients, facilitating single-day and multi-day working sessions both on site and virtually. You will create a setting in which participants feel safe enough to bring their real business and leadership problems into the room, and you will keep the energy high enough that they stay engaged with them. Throughout a session you will build in deliberate space for reflection, practice and application, so that what is discussed converts into behaviour afterwards. Strong command of visual materials and of the technology used to present them is part of the craft here, particularly in remote delivery. While execution discipline is the core of what you deliver, you will also work across our leadership, productivity and trust material as client needs dictate.
Before any session takes place, you will meet the client to understand the outcome they are actually buying, who will be in the room, and what implementation will realistically require on their side. From there you shape the content and the rollout around the business objectives that matter most to them, adjusting tone, depth and examples for audiences that range from individual contributors to the executive committee. You will keep your own knowledge current, both of our methodology and of wider developments in the field, so that what you deliver stays relevant and results-oriented. Alongside delivery, you will join client meetings with our commercial colleagues and contribute consistently to winning new business, recommending the consulting and training approach that fits each situation. Regular travel is part of the role.
What You’ll Bring
We are looking for a senior practitioner who has led people and advised leaders in roughly equal measure. That typically means a decade or more of line management and line leadership experience, together with around five years or more at director level or above, or in executive advisory work. A completed university degree is expected. You should be able to build and deliver polished, substantive presentations that hold the attention of line leaders and C-suite executives alike, and you should be comfortable doing so in rooms where the audience is more senior than you are.
Native-level Japanese and business-level English are both required for this role.
Beyond that, a few things would count in your favour: a postgraduate qualification, prior experience facilitating structured execution-methodology programmes over a couple of years or more, and a dynamic presentation style that carries a room. We value strong commercial judgement paired with genuine integrity, a track record of achievement and the competitive drive behind it, and the ability to form durable partnerships with colleagues and clients alike.
What We Offer
– A permanent, full-time position with a target start date from the end of 2026 onwards
– Hybrid working: two days in our central Tokyo office and three days remote each week
– A compact team in which your contribution is visible and your decisions carry weight
– Direct access to senior client stakeholders and the chance to work on problems that matter to them
– Exposure to internationally developed methods and content, applied to the Japanese market
We are looking forward to receiving your application!
