About Us
We are an international professional services firm specializing in risk, regulatory
compliance, and internal audit advisory for financial institutions and corporates. We
operate across many countries and staff our engagements through cross-border teams,
which means our people gain exposure to both domestic and international regulatory
developments. Our financial crime practice serves banks, other regulated
institutions, and public-sector bodies.
The Role
We are hiring a manager-level consultant into our anti-money-laundering and
counter-terrorist-financing practice in Japan. You will combine hands-on advisory
delivery with client relationship ownership, leading engagements that strengthen
financial crime prevention frameworks while helping grow the practice through
proposal work and business development. You will work across multiple client
organizations rather than a single institution, on assignments that regularly touch
emerging technology areas including RegTech and applied AI.
Responsibilities
Your work will center on designing, assessing, and improving financial crime
prevention frameworks for our clients. Engagements range from foundational policy and
methodology work through to technical model validation and technology enablement, and
often involve coordination across group entities and international operations.
– Develop and implement risk assessment methodologies for money laundering and
terrorist financing exposure
– Draft and enhance customer acceptance policies and know-your-customer documentation
– Design and operationalize data governance frameworks supporting compliance functions
– Perform model validation across transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, and
related detection systems
– Support the design and tuning of AI-driven detection models and risk scoring
approaches for suspicious transaction identification
– Advise on introducing and operating AI-assisted approaches within financial crime
audit processes
– Design group-wide governance structures and support their rollout across
international entities
– Advise clients on compliance with domestic supervisory guidance and international
standards, including FATF recommendations
– Provide advisory support to supervisory authorities and government bodies
Requirements
We are looking for an experienced financial crime practitioner who can operate
independently on client engagements and is motivated to help grow our practice.
Required
– Japanese at business level or above (required)
– Practical experience in anti-money-laundering and counter-terrorist-financing work
within the financial sector, particularly banking
– Proven ability to produce client proposals and manage projects end to end
– Willingness to engage actively in practice development and business generation
– Openness to feedback and a clear appetite for professional growth
Preferred
– Background in consulting, audit, or a financial supervisory authority
– Experience in data analysis and model validation
– English language capability
– PMP certification
What We Offer
– Exposure to a wide range of client environments, broadening your expertise well
beyond what a single in-house compliance function can offer
– Regular work on leading-edge regulatory topics and technologies, including RegTech
and AI applications
– Direct advisory impact on client control frameworks and, by extension, on public
trust in the financial system
– Flexible career paths with room to either deepen your specialization or broaden your
scope
– Access to global regulatory insight and collaboration with our overseas offices and
international teams
– A culture built on diversity, inclusion, and psychological safety
– Structured mentoring from senior practitioners alongside formal career development
programs
– Work with clear social relevance, given our field’s role in preventing financial
crime
We are looking forward to receiving your application!
